Task
Work in pairs or groups of three to choose a work of art from the Courtauld Collection and devise a short animation film that interprets an aspect of its history.
The animation should be designed for the new Animating Art History section of the Courtauld website and should inspire children and teachers to explore art and art history and visit the Courtauld Gallery.
Content
When you develop the theme for the animation focus on either the technique used, the history or the artist’s idea. Find a film language appropriate for this specific target with an educational filmmaking approach. Keep it simple and accurate, focus to the point using a clear and academic message with layers of substance to inspire the audience to find out more about art and history of art.
Write a short text panel which describes your chosen work of art which includes facts about the artist, the materials used, the dates the chosen work was made, historical information about society and culture at the time.
